Do I Need a Roofing Contractor?

Tagged Under : , ,

Yes.  No matter what you need to have done to your roof, you need a professional roofing contractor .  This doesn’t mean you can head to your local hardware store and start pulling names off their neighborhood bulletin board.  This means you need to find a licensed professional.

Chances are, you yourself aren’t an expert in any type of roof repair, construction, or replacement.  More than likely, the only thing you’ve done to your roof is to climb up and clean the gutters.  For anything more detailed, you need to hire someone who can evaluate the problem correctly, give you a fair price, show up to do the work, and get it done right.

Many handymen and misc. types of laborers claim they can fix roofs.  If you’ve ever been to a local big box home improvement center, there’s a good chance you were handed a business card in the parking lot by someone who, among other things, listed “roof repair” on his long list of abilities on his card.

This is not the type of person you should be hiring to fix one of the major portions of your home.  Done wrong, he can and will causeroofing system you more problems in the long run.  Between shoddy work and possible issues with the local zoning and code ordinance authorities, you could have a major problem on your hands.

Also important to keep in mind is the fact that only a licensed professional will have the appropriate level of liability insurance and bonding.   This helps take care of any personal or property injury and mishaps while the roofing contractor is working.

Roofing can be a messy project.  One of the major problems that homeowners encounter, and one that few homeowners even think about beforehand, is – what  happens to all the shingles and tiles up there now?  Well, they get tossed to the ground!  And broken, shattered, and strewn all over.  You will also have nails all over the place, too.  If these old roofing supplies are not placed neatly on a tarp which can be carried away, you will have broken tiles, nails, wood splinters, and even worse, all over your yard for literally years to come.

A licensed roofing contractor will know how to prevent this devastating and dangerous mess, and he will be liable for any injuries to your property or your family if there is damage from disassembling your roof.  This includes everything from throwing a tile that ends up going through your car windshield, to having your four year old step on a rusty nail.

Insulation installation

Tagged Under : , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Homes require insulation in order to keep you warmer in winter, cooler in summer and to reduce outside noise. Insulation is also environment-friendly as it conserves precious energy while lowering your energy bills.
Insulation installation refers to installation of materials which provide substantial resistance to heat movement. When insulation is present in the walls, ceilings and floors of a building, the inflow and outflow of heat in the buildings are minimized. During the summers, insulation reduces the amount of heat entering through walls and ceilings. As a result, the rooms are cooler. On the other hand, during winters, insulation retains the warmth or heat within the building and consequently, the rooms are warmer.
There are mainly two different ways in which insulation works namely bulk insulation and reflective insulation. Bulk insulation traps pockets of still air within its structure. These air pockets provide the resistance to heat flow. Alternately, reflective insulation works by reflecting large amounts of heat from its polished metallic surface. It works in conjunction with a still air layer for maximum effectiveness.
The performance of an insulator is indicative of its ‘R’ value. ‘R’ values refer to the thermal performance; its ability to restrict heat transfer. Components having a higher ‘R’ value are considered to have greater insulating effect. Fiberglass insulation is not only a cost-effective and energy saving option, but also possesses significantly high overall ‘R’ values ranging from R-11 to R-38. Additionally, Fiber glass insulation is naturally non-combustible because it is made from sand and recycled glass. The insulation requires no additional fire-retardant chemical treatments.
With increased awareness among people about using environment friendly products and protection of environment against toxic products, fiberglass insulation manufacturers have begun using increasing amounts of recycled materials in their products. In addition to its recycled content, an analysis from a life-cycle perspective reveals that fiber glass demonstrates environmentally beneficial attributes as opposed to other insulation materials like cellulose.
Before choosing the right insulation for your homes or offices, you must take into account the building orientation, window sizes, construction materials and most importantly, the external and internal temperatures. This will help ensure that the insulation is effective, consumes less energy and is environment-friendly.

A house becomes a home when it reflects your personality. Good aesthetic interiors can be  pleasing to the eye,  and relax your body and mind when one returns ‘home’ after a tiring day at work. Interior designing is a practice and art that accomplishes that by planning the layout, furnishings, decor and color schemes of an architectural interior.

In the current scenario, interior designing has gained immense popularity and interior designers are very much in demand. Homes are reflective of a person’s wealth and has emerged as a status symbol, competing with luxury cars, jewellery and fancy gadgets. Interior design is a discipline that encompasses all designing aspects of the interiors of a space, right from flooring, lighting, walls, windows, doors and miscellaneous design pieces. It is a misconception among many that involving an interior design consultant is to simply decorate. On the contrary, interior decorators and designers have a vital role to play. Interior designers identify, research and creatively find multiple functions for residential and commercial spaces.

Their design solutions help to increase the satisfaction, productivity, safety and aesthetics of both residential as well as commercial spaces. Primarily, the interior designer blends the aesthetics of a space with the functionality and usage of space in consideration with the available area, budget, desires and specifications of the client or customer.

Typically, interior designers choose to specialize and focus on commercial spaces like schools, hospitals, hotels and office buildings or concentrate on residential spaces. Many interior designers work on a contract basis while large corporations hire a team of designers as full-time employees. Independent designers often take on smaller projects, helping them with specific projects providing ideas as a consultant. Interior design consultants collaborate with the client to determine what best suits their needs and work towards realizing their vision.

Home interior designers offer multi-faceted services right from choosing furniture and color schemes, coordinating fabrics, obtaining building permits for any modifications or remodeling to restoration or remodeling of rooms and buildings to historical accuracy. Interior designers bring certain finesse to an unfinished house made of brick and mortar into a fully functional and modern home!
